PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Dr. Andrea Trustham is a highly respected dermatologist with a wide range of experience in medical, cosmetic and surgical treatments for the skin, hair, and nails. She conducts dermatological exams and skin cancer screenings with the whole body in mind, because symptoms of many seemingly unrelated diseases can appear first as irritations of the skin.

With Dr. Trustham’s keen eye and thorough evaluation, she can identify abnormal conditions, investigate the source, and then determine the most effective treatment plan. She has a decade of dermatological experience and has been working in her private practice at the Sixtino II medical building since 2019.

The doctor says, “I dedicate all the time necessary to communicating honestly and clearly with patients so that they have no doubts about the treatment process, and the therapeutic options for them if they are cautious or unsure.”

Cosmetic and rejuvenating treatments are the reason for many patients to visit Dr. Trustham’s clinic in zona 10 of Guatemala City.

  • Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels.
  • Intense Pulsed Light for treating redness caused by rosacea.
  • Hyaluronic Acid Fillers.
  • Bio-stimulation for anti-aging.
  • HydraFacial
  • Micro-needling to improve acne scars.

Medical conditions of the hair, skin, and nails require a different sort of clinical approach, and the TS Dermatology Clinic is well equipped with modern technology to treat and restore your skin. Some of the most common skin diseases treated at the clinic are:

  • Pre-cancerous lesions and warts.
  • Benign and Malignant Skin Tumors.
  • Skin Spots, Vitiligo, Psoriasis.
  • Mole Revision.
  • Skin Allergies.
  • Treatment of ingrown toenails, nail fungus
  • Shingles (Herpes zoster)

Dr. Trustham says, “Your skin, hair and nails can indicate the presence of underlying health problems, so my goal is to be able to detect specific signs and manifestations of these problems in order to provide early treatments to keep them under control.”

The skin is your largest organ, and dermatologic problems could indicate more serious health risks. For example, acanthosis nigricans is a condition that causes dark, thick velvety skin and could be a sign of insulin resistance, rarely some types of cancer, or an adverse reaction to certain medications. Therefore, bloodwork is another tool we use to check conditions that need attention.

If you are worried about skin cancer, Dr. Trustham uses a dermatoscope as a high-resolution visual magnifying aid to seek for patterns that help her decide if a biopsy is warranted. If necessary, she usually performs a punch biopsy, where she takes a small circular skin sample for the investigation of abnormal cells. When surgery is required, Dr. Trustham usually works with her dermatologist associate, Dr. Roberto Salazar in order to remove it. He is a valuable partner with a supporting viewpoint of complex diagnoses.

The doctor says, “When people look better, they feel happier. It is very satisfying to me when I can improve their health and their positive outlook on life. That’s why I am so conscientious about my investigation, using a step-by-step process toward success.”

“You must be comfortable in your own skin. Practicing self-care, having realistic goals, and being proactive in your attention to improvement are the things we can work on together to achieve a better state of wellness.”

It is important to reach out to your dermatologist if you notice any suspicious skin lesions, because the earlier we can diagnose, the easier they are to remove, and that gives us a much better prognosis.

REVIEWS FROM PATIENTS

Dr. Andrea Trustham has such a gentle capable manner, and her check-up was very thorough, ensuring she had a clear history of my previous skin issues. Her treatment was done quite painlessly and she even contacted me the next day to see how I was doing.

I’ve been a client of Dr. Trustham since 2020. She is always extremely professional and explains things from a scientific perspective so I understand why she is making certain recommendations. She has helped me with both acne and anti-aging treatments, and I have always been very happy with her services.

Dr. Trustham has never been pushy with regards to “selling” me more services. She has very competitive pricing and very clearly tells you the prices of each service before setting up future appointments. The clinic is super clean, comfortable, and professional. She speaks fluent English, and her husband/clinic partner, is equally excellent. I highly recommend TS Dermatology to all my friends.

Just got out from seeing Doctora Andrea. LOVE her and the convenient location in Sixtino II. My cancerous lesion turned out to be a wart – What a relief!

She spent an hour with me, one wart to burn off and two skin tags on my eyelids, plus she removed a mole under my eye. The eye stuff required a shot of anesthesia and that was barely noticeable.A bit of a delicate procedure super well done. Dr. Trustham gave me thorough aftercare instructions printed in perfect English and the total was Q850 – super reasonable price. I’m on their whatsapp now to make an appointment for my wife, too.
